DR. EDDIE MOORE, JR. TO KEYNOTE PRIDE AWARDS 2019
Luncheon to Focus on Unconscious Bias
Charlotte, NC—October 18, 2018— Pride Awards 2019 is set for noon on Thursday, January 24 at the Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte. This eye-opening luncheon will focus on a topic seriously impacting our day to day lives in the workplace and beyond. The intent of our theme – Is This America? – is to give attendees a deeper understanding of what unconscious bias is, as well as to provide some inspiration to affect change.
Motivational speaker and teacher, Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr. will expertly delve into the topic of bias with regard to race, while exploring issues of diversity, leadership and privilege. Moore serves as the Director of The Privilege Institute (TPI) and the National White Privilege Conference (WPC). These organizations were founded to provide opportunities and possibilities for research by those committed to genuine social and institutional change. Because of his influence, WPC has become one of the top national and international conferences for participants who want to move beyond dialogue and more towards action when it comes to diversity and privilege.
Dr. Moore is recognized as one of the nation’s top speakers and educators and is known for his many outstanding, interactive workshops, including Black Males, Athletics, Academics and The New Achievement Gap; Everybody Needs Diversity Skills and Cultural Confidence; Courageous Conversations about White Supremacy and The White Women’s Guide to Teaching Black Boys.
“I’m extremely excited to have Dr. Moore as our keynote this year,” says Dee Dixon, President, and CEO of Pride Communications. I’m certain he will discuss unconscious bias in a way that will ignite a fire which not only will have attendees reevaluate themselves, but also how they perceive others. Moore is a sincere and powerful speaker – one of the best to help Charlotte move beyond “just talk.”
