Let Peace be Your Journey

I was talking with my oldest sister on the phone, the other day, and she told me her new catch phrase is “Peace be Your Journey”. I was like hold on, I must let that sink in for a minute. That is such a profound thought and it made me stop and think about life.

In this time of flooding, missile launchings and chaos, it’s difficult to stay positive and enthusiastic about your future. But like she said, let peace be your journey. Here are a few ways to lighten your mood.

  1. Turn off the TV: There are stations that have news on 24/7 and you get your fill of everything that is going on in the world. I know it’s important to be “in the know” but how about this, watch your local news.   You can be aware of what’s going on in your area and get the highlights on what is going on in the world, then turn off the TV. Move on with your day or watch a funny sitcom to help keep your mood light.
  2. Get outside: I know you are thinking, I am going to say go for a walk, bike ride or play sports (even though those things would help with your peace of mind) I’m not. Get outside lay a blanket on the ground or lay in a hammock and just look up at the sky. Relax your mind, feel the sun on your skin, feel the breeze in your hair and remember you are still alive and well. Stay grounded in your reality.
  3. Enjoy the now: Stop what you’re doing and enjoy the fact that you are alive and breathing. Don’t let worries over things you can’t control ruin your peace. Enjoy the now.

You know that old saying, “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today.” So, live in your present. Life isn’t as bad as it seems, move through each day letting peace be your journey.
