Meet Interior Designer Cheryl Luckett

Hi, I’m Cheryl, a registered dietitian by trade, working in the corporate diversity and inclusion space by day and moonlighting as a design student and interior decCherylorator by night. For the past four years, I’ve helped my budget-conscious clientele create homes they’ve only dreamed of creating. I’ve made it my mission to bring affordable, well-appointed design to the masses; well at least locally.

While many budget design bloggers and decorators utilize their DIY prowess to create eye appealing spaces, I take a more traditional design approach, sourcing unique finds and creating custom furniture pieces to achieve a “collected over time” look.   Basically, I’m a bargain hunter.  I thrift, shop resale and consignment and scour Craigslist, yard sales and antique sales to create the look for less.

I’ve been fortunate to work with not only wonderful clients, but also a great partner in the Metrolina ReStores group. The Metrolina Habitat ReStores are a group of 12 ReStores in the Charlotte Metro who accept donations of new and gently used items from individuals and businesses and sell those items to the public at a reduced cost (usually 50-70 percent of the original retail value). Those donations help our community as all proceeds go towards building affordable houses through local Habitat for Humanity affiliates.

My style is traditional with a modern vintage twist. I love incorporating classic vintage elements with more modern elements. I’ve developed a bit of a design signature in taking vintage furniture and giving it a new lease on life with reupholstery.

It’s amazing how much more you can get for your money when you buy vintage and customize verses buying new on a budget.

I look forward to sharing my ideas and project inspirations here. I hope you’ll join me. I’d love to hear from you. If what I’m writing is of interest to you feel free to follow along on my weekly blog at www.dwellbycherylblog.com. Until next time…
