Joy to the world Queen City! The holiday madness is nearing an end and I know the majority of you are worn out from all the hustle and bustle. However, I’ve found a few cool events to remedy your stress and help you relax! If you want to know the hot spots for this weekend, check out my “Hot List” just below, ya dig?

  • MONDAY—Jazz and a Movie screening of “Fences” at Cinebarre Arboretum

——-THURSDAY 12/22——-

Everyone come and get all 360 degrees of your being filled with art at the Uptown Crawl! All of Uptown Charlotte’s art treasures will be open for the general public this evening and you’ll get an opportunity to scour and scope art at The Gantt Center, Mint Museum Uptown, New Gallery of Modern Art, Sozo Gallery, The McColl, UNCC Center City, Goodyear Arts and The Levine Museum of the New South. You’ll be able to begin the tour at any of the featured institutions, then travel freely between the stops by foot, trolley, or bike. Each stop on the tour will feature a special look at the art held within. Admission is FREE! All venues and museums are in the Uptown area and will begin at 6 p.m.

Looking for that last minute holiday gift? Come check out an array of local business owners at Three Spirits Brewery for the “Sip & Shop” event. There will be complimentary spirits provided by Three Spirits Brewery. Admission is FREE but please be sure to RSVP at: http://www.holidaysipshop.eventbrite.com. This event is sponsored by Black Business Owners of Charlotte and Three Spirits Brewery. The event will begin at 6 p.m. Three Spirits Brewery is located at 5046 Old Pineville Rd.

A serious funk rock storm is headed to Petra’s this evening, but you won’t want to cover your ears! Get ready for the three way artist showcase featuring LeAnna Eden & The Garden Of, Blu House and Monty Mak! These are three of my favorite live acts in the QC and if you have never heard any of them before, I highly suggest you give them a listen! Admission is $6 and the show starts at 8 p.m. Petra’s is located at 1919 Commonwealth Ave. in the Plaza-Midwood District.

Got a taste for something sweet? Head down to The Tavern this evening for a special serving of the band Hard Candy in a soulful Christmas concert! Come and see this lineup featuring some of the QC’s most distinguished performers including vocal powerhouse queens Gena Chambers and Blanche J along with soul brothers Tony Lelo, Eric and Devin Bruce, Archie “Snoop” Pearson, fire spittin’ MCs Mason Parker, Modest Jon and more! Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 9 p.m. The Tavern is located at 300 E. Morehead St. in Uptown.

Slide out to BluNotes this evening as Charlotte Nightlife Entertainment proudly presents “Go-Go Fourth Fridays Toy Drive!” Come and ring in some holiday cheer with Charlotte’s premier Go-Go band, Uptown Swagga and special guest, singer and songwriter Vince Keyz! Be sure to bring in a brand new toy that will be donated to a deserving child. If you arrive before 8 p.m. with a toy, your admission is $5 and will be $10 after. Also, a portion of the proceeds will go towards the Charlotte Women’s Shelter. The party starts at 7 p.m. BluNotes is located at 3425 David Cox Rd. in the University Area.

Put some color and flavor in your Friday at Industry Coworking and come out for the “Christmas Pain & Play Vendor Edition!” Creativity, cuisine and commerce collide in this cool-down with some prolific poetry from a variety of spoken word artists, a delicious and hearty menu from Carolina Seafood and a few vendors to cater to your last minute Christmas shopping needs. Are you ready for some mo’ Jazz N’ Soul? Then come out to The Tavern tonight as The Shana Blake Band soothes you with her blue-eyed soulful vocals and a fire-hot instrumental section playing some Funk, Soul, R&B, The Blues, Reggae and some molasses-dripping Southern Rock. Admission is FREE before 11:30 p.m. and the party starts at 9:30 p.m. Suite is located at 210 E. Trade St. in Uptown.

Everyone slide over to Apostrophe Lounge this afternoon as Ms. Terry Berry of TerryBerry Events hosts the “Naughty or Nice Holiday Party!” Get comfortable in those cool winter threads as DJ CK sets the mood with the best of Hip Hop and R&B from today and yesteryear! Admission is FREE before midnight and the fun starts at 10 p.m. Apostrophe Lounge is located at 1440 S. Tryon St. in Uptown. #TerryBerryEvents

Moxie Society is making spirits bright at Sports One Bar & Lounge once again with another fly editon of the “I Still Love the 90s Brunch & Day Party!” Come and take a load off on Christmas Eve and cool out to some 90s grooves from DJ Louie Vee! Also, be sure to check out some holiday specials from the kitchen staff and bar. Admission is FREE to attend. The party starts at 11 a.m. Sports One is located at 521 N. College St. in Uptown.

What do the lonely do at Christmas? They still have fun! Head out to Press Box Bar & Grill this evening for the Jingle & Mingle Singles Mixer!” Come and engage some of Charlotte’s finest professional singles who will be bringing in Christmas in a merry way! DJ Hot Rod will be handling all the holiday grooves and there will be games, giveaways and icebreakers too. Treat yourselves to an after-Christmas gift at The Evening Muse as APEHEAD Entertainment proudly presents an evening with Arthur Andru! This one-night-only show will be a special performance dedicated to the wonderful world of performing arts, music and laughter all for the common goal of uplifting vibes.
