Hey everyone! The weekend is here and it’s time to get things crackin’ once more! The QC is buzzing with all sorts of goodies this weekend and to top it off, we have some great weather scheduled for our skies! This evening at The Levine Museum of the New South come enjoy and engage with a special screening of the documentary, “What We Told Our Sons.” As part of the museum’s Screen@Levine series, filmmaker Dayvee Sutton explores the reactions families had to the death of Trayvon Martin and larger issues related to the “talk” many parents have to have with their children about how to conduct themselves around law enforcement. Come view indie movies with other enthusiasts, join in Q&A with filmmakers, and mingle with fellow community members. The rhythmic and rhetorical wizard known as Sir Abstraxxx invites you out to experience Seoul Vibes – The Poetic Dining Experience. Bring your friends out to Seoul Food Meat Company and enjoy Charlottes first Korean BBQ and Southern BBQ fusion restaurant set to a soundtrack of some of the QC’s most riveting poets and acoustic artists. Rise and shine and head over to Charlotte Regional Farmers Market for Peach Day! Your name doesn’t have to be James to attend, but come out to enjoy some organic and fresh-picked peaches and peach desserts including some homemade peach ice cream. There will also be some special recipes for you to take home for your family to enjoy! This fuzzy fruit feast-ival is FREE for all ages and it begins at 11 a.m. Charlotte Regional Farmers Market is located at 1801 Yorkmont Rd.

Gather your friends and come out to The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art for another fun edition of “Bechtler By Night!” Hailed as a leisure haven for art enthusiasts in the Charlotte region, this event for this evening will be themed as “Summer of ‘69.” Hors d’oeuvres and margarita cocktails will be available. Admission is FREE and it begins at 5 p.m. The Bechtler is located at 420 S. Tryon St. in Uptown.

Charlotte’s Jazz Arts Initiative’s monthly series—The Jazz Room is the place for cool jazz during the sizzling summer! This weekend, Los Angeles-based trumpeter Corey Wilkes plays the music of Freddie Hubbard–one of jazz’s most powerful and prolific jazz trumpeters from the 1960’s onward. The Jazz Room provides a casual and intimate setting with tables reminiscent of the classic jazz rooms of yesteryear. Kick off your weekend at Coco and the Director as they host their open mic night, “Art in Motion.” Sip on $5 glasses of wine, $4 beers and other tasty treats in stock. The Gantt Center will reopen this morning for a special Community Opening Social!
