Peace and greetings my Queen City Brothers and Sisters! I’m back in the zone with another weekend chock full of cultural goodness for your soul. THURSDAY July 21

Begin your weekend at The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture with another slammin’ and soulful edition of “Gantt After Dark!” Mellow out with a mature and sophisticated crowd, enjoy some delicious treats, shop from local vendors and enjoy the smooth sounds from local band, 5th & York. Join Charlotte-Mecklenburg Black Chamber of Commerce (CMBCC) this evening for an after hours monthly professional networking event. Put some color and vigor in your Saturday afternoon and head down to Advent Coworking for the “Queen City Urban Art Showcase!” The spectrum of radiance is filled with work from some of Crown Town’s brightest and upcoming talents and they want you to experience their work. Parents, this afternoon, bring the youth out to Spirit Square where Breakin’ Convention CLT hosts the interactive and informative workshop, “The Fundamentals of Hip Hop.” From the art of MC-ing, DJ-ing, Breaking, Graffiti Tagging and more, this is sure to lead them on a path of preserving Hip Hop Culture. Activities included are a beat-making course instructed by DJ/Producer Khrysis, a culinary and graffiti workshop. This workshop is FREE to attend and all ages are welcome to participate! The Spoke Easy has put together a battle of brains and brawn in this Summer’s big team event–THE SPOKE EASY FIELD DAY! They’re takin’ it all the way back to elementary school and challenging all the teams to ride their bikes to field day events around town that will test their wits and coordination! Wrangle up your crew with teams of 2-4 Riders ($20 per team). Creative/Color Coordinated team jerseys/uniforms will get you more points! They finished every scene…except one; the film’s explosive airplane set piece. Over two decades later, the trio reunited with the original cast members from their childhood in order to complete their masterpiece.
