Keith Burgess
Northridge Middle School science teacher, Keith Burgess, is a recipient of this year’s Arts & Science Council (ASC) Cato Excellence in Teaching Award. The award is given to educators who demonstrate dedication through community leadership and have at least 15 years of experience teaching science, art, or history.
Burgess, the Science Department Chair at Northridge, is known for his gift of using creative strategies in the classroom. He believes part of his life mission is to encourage his students, most of whom come from marginalized communities, to see themselves as little scientists and integral members of society.
