Job Description: Executive Director
Reports to: SHARE CHARLOTTE Board of Directors
Since its founding in 2012, SHARE Charlotte has been on a mission to build a better Charlotte by empowering nonprofits and helping people invest in their communities in ways that matter most to them. We accomplish this by providing a one stop shop to engage with 400+ Mecklenburg County nonprofits and by connecting our nonprofit partners to valuable resources and opportunities. We are currently seeking our next Executive Director to lead an exceptional team and take the organization to the next level. This role requires wearing many hats and proven success in the following areas:
Leadership:
- Leads team of 5 direct reports responsible for partner management, marketing, communications, shared services and campaign management
- Manages day-to-day operations of the organization
- Collaborates with the Board on strategic direction to ensure that long-term and short-term goals of the organization are met
- Recruits, manages, coaches, and supports team members
- Continuing development and implementation of an effective system for measuring impact of all initiatives
Fundraising
- Leads fundraising efforts (sponsorships and grants) to support operational expenses, new and existing programs
- Works with the team and the Board to identify new funder relationships and maintain existing ones
Financial Management:
- Creates and manages annual budget
- Works with Board on strategies to improve long term financial strength
- Manages contracted party relationships with accounting and payroll services
- Manages all 501(c)(3) status requirements including annual licensing, Form 990 filings, and audits as required
Community Relations and Communications
- Serves as the primary spokesperson for important constituents, media interviews and speaking engagements
- Works to expand brand visibility and partnerships in the community
Governance
- Observes and follows the Bylaws and other processes and procedures set forth by the Board for the operation and governance of the organization
- Implements and adheres to all personnel policies and guidelines
- Cultivates and maintains strong working relationships with the Board
- Prepares agenda and materials for all Board meetings
- Recommends potential new board members to Nominating Committee and onboards those approved by Board
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Non-Profit Management, Accounting, Communications, or other related area
Work Experience:
- Minimum five years leading a nonprofit, government, or private sector organization/team
- Proven partner development and fundraising success
Skills:
- Proven leadership, organizational and financial management success
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; good on your feet and comfortable with unscripted public speaking
- Ability to “sell” the mission and vision inspiring others to support it
- Working knowledge of nonprofits
- Proficient in different types of electronic platforms and applications, g. Microsoft and Google
- Social media savvy and aptitude
Compensation:
- Position is fulltime with frequent after-hours and possible weekend work required
- Salary range is $70,000-$80,000 and is commensurate with experience
