It’s Thanksgiving and there’s quite a few things cooking in the QC this weekend and of course, your favorite cultural ambassador, The Black Ferris Bueller has found some delicious cultural fixin’s for your soul! The good people at Charlotte Rescue Mission extend a warm welcome to you and your family for a FREE Thanksgiving Lunch! Spend some time in an atmosphere of tender loving care with some hot breakfast movie screenings and a lunch serving! All meals and activities are FREE. Doors open at 7 a.m. Charlotte Rescue Mission is located at 907 W. 1st St. in Uptown.

Experience the magic of this festive day at the 2018 Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade! Catch a front seat on Tryon Street as you get to witness 12 floats, 8 larger than life balloons, 7 Segwalloons, 15 marching bands and 17 performing acts! Appearances will include Miss North Carolina, the Seed and Feed Marching Abominable, the cast of Carowinds’ Winterfest, and an even appearance by Santa Claus himself! The parade kicks off at 9 a.m. and will travel along Tryon St. in Uptown. 

Are you along for the holiday and not able to make it home with your loved ones this year? No problem. Coffee Cone Café invites you out for a very special Friendsgiving Dinner this afternoon! The table is set and it’s time to savor some of your favorite Thanksgiving menu items with others in the community! Admission is $5 per person and children 4 and under will eat FREE. Space is limited. Dinner will be served from 2—5 p.m. Coffee Cone Café is located at 9620 University City Blvd.

After you’ve stuffed yourselves with turkey and all those delicious fixin’s, gather your older cousins and come out to TCB 54 Hundred Bar & Grill for the Dirty Thirty Thursday Reunion Party! Carrying on the long tradition from the Historic Excelsior Club, come dressed to impress with lots fly individuals in a mood for festive fun! There will be plenty of drink specials available and Charlotte’s own DJ E-Sharp will be handling business on the 1s and 2s! It’s Black Friday and how better to spend it with your community at the Black Food Truck Friday Marketplace! Black Business Owners of Charlotte continue the necessary narrative of community empowerment with a wide variety of Black-owned food trucks, vendors, retailers, artisans and much more! DJ Steel Wheel will be in the house providing your shopping soundtrack and there will be lots of deals and specials from the featured merchants. I’ve got just one question for you—who the heck is Ryan Davis? He’s a homegrown and nationally-recognized funnyman and he’s coming to perform for you this weekend at The Comedy Zone! Enjoy a mashup of classic cinema and live music as Charlotte Symphony Pops presents “Home Alone: Movie In Concert!” Hilarious and heartwarming, “Home Alone” is a quintessential holiday favorite. Your whole family will delight in John Williams’ beloved score performed live, while the full-length film is projected on a big screen above the orchestra. Brut Beat is what could be considered as abrasive jazz influenced by an assortment of musical styles from afro-beat to heavy punk, free/bebop/cool jazz and old school hip hop mixing a blend of intricate rhythms. Jazzology is a collection of six diverse musicians who have a passion for channeling classic jazz from the 50s and 60s Golden Era. David Childers is a multitalented Renaissance Man with several creative abilities and treasures to his credit, a true tour de force in the flesh.
