This weekend, the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte invites you and your family out for the premiere of the all-new stage musical, Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds.” Inspired by the music of the legendary reggae legend Bob Marley, this jammin’ show takes audiences to the beautiful island of Jamaica. Three little birds share their sweet songs with Ziggy, a shy child who’s content on seeing the world from his television inside the safety of his own room. Ziggy’s friend Nansi, though, encourages him to venture outside his room and experience Jamaica. But Ziggy’s afraid of hurricanes, mongooses and, most of all, the voodoo villain Duppy, who steals the hair of children. The music of the one and only Bob Marley weaves through the friends’ adventures in this reggae-infused musical. Showtimes and tickets can be found here: All Shows will be held at the McColl Family Theater inside ImaginOn. 300 E. 7th St. in Uptown.

But on September 15, 1963, a devastating explosion in Birmingham rocked America to the core, and from the memory of the four little girls that were lost in this unimaginable tragedy came “Four Women” — along with Simone’s other activist anthems like “Mississippi God****,” “Old Jim Crow” and “To Be Young, Gifted and Black.” Songs will be performed by Destiny DeBerry Stone, Erica Truesdale, Krystal D. Gardner and Arlethia Friday Hailstock. Tickets can be purchased here: Tonight’s performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and all remaining shows will be held at the Hadley Theater at Queens University. 2132 Radcliffe Ave.   #TheatreCharlotte
