Jazz Arts Initiative returns for some more musical fun as they invite you out for the November installment of their critically-acclaimed performance series The Jazz Room! This weekend, piano virtuoso Charles Craig returns with his trio to perform remarkable re-interpretations of the timeless compositions by one of his greatest influences, jazz piano icon Erroll Garner. Craig’s early training was classical music, which he played exclusively until age 17. Though concentrating on piano, he also played trumpet, trombone, cornet, and other brass instruments. Craig attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and had played with many of the world’s top jazz icons. Explore your inner creativity at Warehouse 242 as Playing For Others hosts “Arte-socish” this evening. “Arte-socish” is a word we made up to define an event that uses the arts to explore social issues. The word itself is made up of the first letter of each of the ten social issues you’ll be exploring at the event tonight: Access, Representation, Transformation, Empowerment, Sustainability, Openness, Community, Independence, Self-Care and Honesty. This multisensory evening will feature spoken word from teen artists, live creations from visual artists, a slam competition, raffle prizes and much more! This weekend, Canadian actor and uber geek, Charles Ross, brings his solo madcap creation One-Man Star Wars Trilogy to the stage in this mind-bending whirlwind of a show. Ross retells the classic bad hair trilogy in 60 minutes- no costumes, no props, no sets- all the characters, the music, the ships, and the battles. If your kid’s name is Chewbacca, this show is a no-brainer. If not, get your nerd on and experience the global sensation loved by audiences from London’s West End, Off-Broadway, Dubai, the Sydney Opera House, Lucasfilm and Charlie’s mom.
